Allow me to introduce you to my friend Kimmie Smith, a woman with an incredible sense of style. Kimmie is a celebrity fashion stylist and the cofounder and creative and style director of Athleisure Media (Athleisure Mag and a multimedia podcast network, Athleisure Studio) and cofounder and designer of Romply and On Air Style Expert.

She’s a woman who doesn’t just slap an outfit together. She puts care and creativity into her appearance and that of the celebrities she styles. Every outfit really makes a statement. She knows exactly what type of message she wants to project into the world. She owns it!

Andrea. Have you always had an amazing sense of style, or is this something that you’ve cultivated over time?

Kimmie. I come from a long line of family members who have been in various areas of the fashion industry. A number of them have been designers, product developers, etc. My mom modeled for years, so I remember seeing her walk a number of fashion shows, and she also owned her own couture boutique where she designed bridal gowns, evening wear, and resort clothing. I grew up being able to have some items designed for me, so my love for wool, velvet, silks, etc. came from that. My sense of style has always been statement-oriented, as I enjoy rocking a pair of jeans and leggings with fun tops and accessories that use exotic skins, stacked bracelets, and everything with sparkle and visual texture. Whether you’re looking at the magazine for my style looks or you see my celebs on the red carpet, athletes, or Miss Ecuador, you will see those elements in it.

Andrea. What’s your go-to uniform for work?

Kimmie. I live for rompers and maxi dresses in the summer, and year-round, leggings and classic tees and sweaters are my go-to looks. I tend to wear a lot of neutral colors, as I am always surrounded by so much color and I need to have a clean visual space. I also prefer my colors to come through my accessories, and they are best seen when I am in neutral. As an accessory expert, I like showcasing my pieces as well as my hair, which is black and a rich dark blue. In terms of shoes, on-trend sneakers and ankle boots all day every day! I love a sun-kissed look with bronzer that mixes two of my favorite honey shades together with a bit of a hot pink for my cheeks, kohl eyeliner, and a fun nail polish that looks like it’s black but is probably a deep blue, green, or rich purple.

Andrea. What’s your go-to uniform for a glam occasion, like a party or going to the theater?

Kimmie. Where my day-to-day style is more casual and gives me comfort since I never know where my day will take me, my glam style is all about showcasing my hourglass figure. I love mixing monochromatic fabrics together, so whether it is a figure-hugging dress
